Amelia Earhart Comes to Summit

perm

The Summit Herald of December 3, 1935 announced a talk by Amelia Earhart on “Adventures in Flying” at the High School Auditorium, sponsored by the PTA. DeSantis’ Beauty Salon advertised $5 perms using the “Infra-Ray Steam Process”. Dr. Mario della Ragione of Summit sailed on the S.S. Conte de Savoie with an Italian-American hospital unit heading for the Ethiopian front. Three beavers were installed at Seeley’s Pond in the Watchung Reservation. They were transferred from Passaic County, which was suffering from flooding conditions caused by an influx of beavers from New York State.
