Christmas in Summit

santaThe Summit Herald of December 24, 1935 reported on a variety of Christmas celebrations, including a carol sing at the municipal Christmas tree. The Independent Social Club defeated the Knights of Columbus to take first place in the city pinochle league. Board of Health official Dr. Denger published an article on home nursing for communicable diseases such as diphtheria and scarlet fever. Two major golfing events were announced for 1936: the National Open at Baltusrol, and the Women’s National at Canoe Brook.
