The Summit Record of April 21, 1900 reported that the Republicans of the Eighth Congressional District met in Belleville to choose two delegates to attend the Republican National Convention scheduled for June in Philadelphia, and predicted the re-election of President McKinley. The Lackawanna Railroad offered commuter tickets to New York for 10 cents. The Children’s Aid & Protective Society of Orange advertised for Protestant families willing to foster children aged 2 to 8.
